How does DoorDash support Dashers in terms of safety?
Location Sharing
Share your location with up to 5 trusted contacts so they can see where you are when on a dash. In the rare instances that 911 assistance has been requested, they will receive an alert.

Chat communications are screened for abusive or offensive language, and you have the option to easily report an issue or unassign the delivery.
Porch Light Reminders
Your customer will receive a notification asking them to turn on their outside lights during nighttime deliveries.

DoorDash partners with samdesk, a global crisis detection platform, to notify you with Real-Time Safety Alerts in the event of a nearby emergency.
Safety Reporting
Easily report a safety issue and connect with support to opt out of future deliveries to that customer with no impact to your Dasher rating.

Add contact details of someone you trust so we can reach them in case of an emergency if we're not able to reach you.

Severe Weather Protocol

Keeping Dashers Safe During Extreme Weather
To help Dashers stay safe during extreme weather such as hurricanes or blizzards, DoorDash has developed an industry-leading Severe Weather Protocol. We’re constantly monitoring weather conditions and guidance from local authorities. In extreme weather, DoorDash will activate the Protocol by adjusting or suspending operations in an area.
Frequently asked questions
All of our safety tools are free to use, but many emergency services, such as ambulances, have separate costs, which Dashers are required to cover. Your phone’s carrier rates may also apply. If you get injured while dashing, you may be eligible for coverage.
If you need emergency help but are having issues with our safety features for any reason, leave the app and dial 911 directly from your phone.
Our safety tools should only be used for help with safety-related incidents or issues. For all other issues, please contact DoorDash Support. Our 24/7 Support Team will be happy to assist you with any non-emergency issues.
We’re constantly monitoring weather conditions, guidance from local authorities, and data from our ground level operations when considering activating the Severe Weather Protocol. In the past, we’ve suspended operations in response to hurricanes, blizzards, wildfires and extreme flooding. Importantly, Dashers are always free to decline any order if they don’t feel safe or comfortable dashing in certain conditions.
We know that our platform is critical for the communities we serve, and aim to re-open operations as soon as it’s safe to do so. DoorDash relies on expert analysis to determine when conditions are safe and DoorDash can resume operations.
