What you need to start delivering

You must be at least 18 years old in most states. However, some states have higher requirements: California requires 21 years old (for new applicants only), and Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia require 19 years old.

California requires Dashers to be 21 years old (for new applicants only). Existing Dashers in California who were already active are not impacted by this requirement.

Texas requires Dashers to be at least 19 years old.

Florida requires Dashers to be at least 19 years old. All other standard requirements apply: smartphone, completion of sign-up process, background check, and if using a car, a valid driver's license and auto insurance.

You'll need a current, valid US government-issued ID, such as a driver's license, state ID, passport, passport card, permanent resident card, or employment authorization card.

DoorDash requires all Dashers to undergo a background check. This includes: national background check, motor vehicle record check (for vehicle Dashers), and Social Security Number trace. 

There are no specific vehicle requirements. You can use any car (any make, model, or year), provided you have a valid driver's license and auto insurance. Depending on your location, you may also deliver using a motorcycle, scooter, bike, or e-bike.

DoorDash does not have specific car year or age requirements. Any make, model, or year is acceptable as long as you have a valid driver's license and insurance.

For bike delivery, you must be at least 18 years old (or meet your state's minimum age requirement), have a smartphone, and undergo a background check. Unlike car delivery, you do NOT need a driver's license or vehicle insurance for bike delivery. You can use a regular bike or e-bike, depending on what's available in your location.

You must meet the standard age requirement for your state (18-21, depending on location), have a valid driver's license, auto insurance that meets your state's requirements, undergo a background check, and have a smartphone. Scooter delivery availability depends on your location.

Yes, if you're delivering by car, motorcycle, or scooter, you need a valid driver's license. However, if you're delivering by bicycle or e-bike, you do NOT need a driver's license—just a valid government-issued ID.

If delivering by car, motorcycle, or scooter, you must maintain your own auto insurance that meets your state or province's minimum requirements. Insurance maintained by DoorDash covers up to $1,000,000 while on an active delivery, but this does NOT replace your personal insurance. Bicycle Dashers do not need insurance.

During signup, you'll need to provide: a government-issued ID (driver's license or state ID), Social Security Number (US), and if delivering by car, a valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and vehicle registration.

DoorDash operates in Australia, but specific requirements may vary by region. Generally, you must be at least 18 years old, have a smartphone, and  a background check. For the most current Australia-specific requirements, visit the DoorDash Australia website or help center.

To dash in Canada, you must be at least 18 years old, have an iPhone or Android smartphone, complete the sign-up process, and undergo a background check. If delivering by car, you need a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and vehicle registration. Bicycle delivery is available in select Canadian cities and does not require a license or insurance.
