D’Shea goes above and beyond in everything she does.

Not only was she chosen as a Person of the Year by Amsterdam News, she was even given a portrait in People.com’s Voices from the Coronavirus Crisis Series for her profound and inspiring story.

Based in Queens, New York, D’Shea is a 41-year-old mom who started dashing before quarantine began.

She lives in a multi-generational family home in Queens with her mother, her sister, her sister’s children, and her daughter De’Onna, who has cerebral palsy.

D’Shea loves dashing because it gives her the flexibility to stay home with her daughter during the day and earn at night. According to her most recent estimates, she dashes about 24-30 hours a week.

D’Shea spends every morning and much of the day dedicated to her daughter De’Onna. And when she’s not dashing — or busy being Mom — she’s hard at work studying, tending to the health and wellness business she owns, and pursuing her goals.

“I have many streams of income,” she says.

Of all the things D’Shea could be doing with her time, we asked her: “Why dashing?” She answers:

“Flexibility and the money. You can make as much money as you need to. You can dash anywhere. Let’s say I go on vacation somewhere, I can go dash … Wherever you have a dashing circumference, you can go dash."

In her community and beyond, D’Shea has found purpose through dashing. Her simple motto reminds us: "People need help worldwide. Why not help, if you can?”
