Getting started
You’ll need to be at least 18, have a smartphone (iOS or Android) and a legal right to work in Australia to become a Dasher. Since Dashers are independent contractors, you’ll also need an Australia Business Number (ABN). You can get an ABN for free in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Get signed up
We’ll need your name, Australian phone number, email, ABN and bank account details. We’ll also ask you for your ID and visa documents for a background check. This is completely free, and will just take a few days to come through.
Once your background check and right to work have been processed, you’ll be activated straight away and you can start your first Dash!
Step 2: Get some wheels
You can dash with a bike, car, scooter or motorbike, and you can also easily switch vehicles at a tap in the Dasher app. The best part? You can have several vehicle types in your Dasher account so you can use whichever is most convenient depending on where you are.
With a car, you’ll have access to longer distance dashes. Plus, if you’re planning a road trip, you’ll be able to dash in any city where DoorDash operates. But if you don’t have a car, don’t worry. Many Dashers use a bike or scooter for local dashes, and it’s often way easier because you don’t have to worry about parking!
If you want to deliver in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane - we recommend renting an e-bike if you don’t have your own transport. They're efficient and environmentally friendly – and as a Dasher, you can get special discounts with Zoomo. For example, when you sign up as a Dasher, you’ll get discounts on a Zoomo e-bike rental.
Step 3: Get earning
Once you’re activated, simply open the Dasher app to start your first dash! As a new Dasher, you’ll get a 14-day trial of Top Dasher status, which lets you dash at any time and get priority on available dashes.
Whenever you get into a new city, just Dash now or Schedule a Dash - and you're good to go!
If you’re available at the busiest times, you can get paid more per delivery or task. You’ll see those dashes marked as “Peak Pay” and with up to $4.50 more per order, it’s a smart way to get the most out of dashing.
The Dasher app lets you keep track of your earnings, and you get paid weekly into your bank account.
