Safety isn’t a campaign. It’s a commitment.

At DoorDash, we build safety into the platform year-round, from new in-app features to on-the-ground events. But each June, we get to do something special: bring it all front and center for the Dasher community. Last year, we hosted our second annual Safety Awareness Month, and it was bigger, bolder, and more personal than ever.

We covered a lot of ground in June 2025. Read on to see what we did, and get a sense of what’s coming this year.

The safety tools built for every delivery

We built these in-app safety features to give you confidence and peace of mind on every dash. Last June, we made sure more Dashers knew exactly where to find them.

Want the full breakdown of every feature and how to turn it on? Head to our Dasher safety page.

Safety, in Dashers’ own words

Safety is personal. That’s why we brought real Dasher voices to the center of Safety Awareness Month.

We introduced safety-focused storytelling with a video featuring Chanelle, a real Dasher who shared her experience in her own words. Hearing directly from someone in the community changes how safety information lands. When a Dasher tells you about a feature that helped her, it hits different than reading a how-to guide.

We want to keep doing more of this. Real stories, from real Dashers.

Gear up: the Safety Swag Bundle

Feeling safe on a delivery isn’t only about what’s in the app. It’s also about what you have on you. That’s why we made a discounted Safety Swag Bundle available through the Dasher Gear Store during Safety Awareness Month.

The bundle included a Birdie Safety Alarm, reflective safety gear for better visibility on the road, and branded DoorDash items. The Birdie is a compact personal alarm that’s been a Dasher favorite since we first introduced it.

Learn safety features. Win rewards.

Learning about safety features should feel easy, and maybe a little exciting. During June last year, we ran a national sweepstakes that gave Dashers the chance to engage with in-app safety tools and earn rewards for doing it. Because knowing your tools shouldn’t feel like homework.

Detroit Dasher Day: showing up in person

Dx - Blog Post Image - Safety Awareness Month Recap 2

Safety isn’t just an app feature. It’s a community commitment, and last June we proved that by showing up in person.

We hosted a Safety Awareness Dasher Day event in Detroit. Dashers connected face-to-face with the DoorDash team, got answers to their questions, picked up swag, and gave us direct feedback about the safety issues that matter most to them.

The turnout and energy from attendees said it clearly: Dashers want to be heard. We’re here for it.

One month of spotlight. 365 days of commitment.

Safety Awareness Month is one month. Our investment in Dasher safety is year-round. Every feature you saw spotlighted in June lives in the app 365 days a year, and we’re always working to add more.

We’re proud of what we built together in 2025. And we’re already planning something even better for the following years.

Keep an eye out for what's coming, and in the meantime, browse the Dasher Blog for more safety stories and tips from the road.
