You know the routine. You're at home, thinking about heading out for a dash, but you're not sure if now's a good time. So you open the app, check the conditions, decide it's not worth it yet, close the app, and repeat that whole thing an hour later.
That's a lot of taps for what's basically a quick gut-check.
The new Dasher home screen widget cuts out all of that so you can check, decide, and get on the road in seconds. It's a tile that lives right on your phone's home screen — no need to open the app — and shows you what you actually need to know before you decide to dash.
Everything you need at a glance
The Dasher phone widget shows you three things: average offer wait times for your area, active promos like Peak Pay, and an easy to access one-tap button to start or schedule a dash. Simple. Easy.
If wait times are short or a promo is active, you have what you need to decide to head out. If not, you still have a clear view of what’s happening in your area. You choose what works best for you, without needing to open the Dasher app.
What you’ll see
The widget updates based on what’s happening around you, so you can act in the moment or plan ahead. Here’s what you’ll see:
Normal conditions: You’ll see the average offer wait time for your area, plus the Dash Now button to jump straight in.
Peak Pay is active: The widget surfaces the Peak Pay promo so you can see the bonus before deciding to get online.
Your area is busy: Instead of Dash Now, you’ll see a Schedule option — a helpful signal to plan your next dash.
You’re already on a dash: The widget switches to show your current dash status, so you can keep an eye on things without switching apps.
Your dash is paused: You’ll see your paused dash status and can act on it directly from the widget.
Designed for how you actually dash
We heard from a lot of Dashers that they open the app constantly throughout the day — not to dash, just to check conditions. “If I had more information about when it will be busy, it would give me a lot more options to rearrange my day” was something we heard over and over in Dasher research.
The widget is a direct response to that. It's part of our ongoing work to make the dashing experience more focused and less cluttered. Stop checking the app over and over, and start dashing when it matters most to you.
How to set it up
It takes about 30 seconds to set up the Dasher App widget. Here's how:

Tap Edit, then Add Widget
Search for Dasher and tap to add
On Android

How to get the most out of the widget
Once it’s on your home screen, the widget is most useful when you treat it as your first check before heading out. A few ways to make it work for you:
Stay on top of Peak Pay in your area: Peak Pay shows up on the widget when it’s active in your area. If you’re not in the middle of something, you have what you need to decide to get on the road.
Stay flexible when demand is lower: When your area is busy and the widget shows ‘Schedule’ instead of ‘Dash Now’, that’s useful information. It means now might not be the best time — but booking a slot ahead can help you lock in a better window.
Check wait times before heading out: Short wait times mean offers are coming in fast. If you’re on the fence about going out, a quick look at the widget will help you decide.
Common questions about the Dasher app widget
Do I need to update the Dasher app to add the widget?
Yes. Make sure you’re on the latest version of the Dasher app before trying to add the widget. If you don’t see it in the widget search, check for an app update in the App Store or Google Play first.
Does the widget work if I’m logged out of the app?
No, you’ll need to be logged into the Dasher app for the widget to show live data. If you’re logged out, the widget will prompt you to sign in.
Does it show wait times for my specific area?
Yes. The widget pulls wait time data based on your current location, so what you see is relevant to where you are right now. Location access needs to be enabled for this to work.
I can’t add the widget on my phone. What should I do?
Start by updating the Dasher app and making sure location permissions are turned on. If it’s still not showing, visit the Help Center for troubleshooting steps.
