As a new Dasher, you might have a few questions in mind, especially about how to make the most of your time while on the road. We’ll highlight some helpful tips and tricks that can help you conduct more efficient deliveries for a 5-star Dasher rating.

Tip #1: Dashing to the store

When heading to a store, you can make the most of the in-app navigation provided by the DoorDash Dasher app. The app provides you with a reliable and accurate route, and gives you all the information you need without needing to leave the DoorDash Dasher app.

Remember to follow your local parking and traffic laws for your safety and the security of those around you. You’ll also get all the store information in the DoorDash Dasher app – and each store has an option of setting its own parking and pick-up instructions, so you’ll know exactly where to go when you arrive for a faster end-to-end delivery experience.

Tip #2: Picking up orders

Seasoned Dashers recommend getting to the pick-up spot on time or a bit earlier than the quoted pick-up time. If you’re running late, it’s best to contact the store or DoorDash Dasher Support. When you’re at the store, just let the staff know you’re there to pick up a DoorDash order and give them the customer’s name. Depending on the business, there may be a dedicated pickup area that’s clearly marked upon entry. Remember to double-check the order and the name on the receipt, and ensure you’ve followed any special instructions from the customer. If something’s out of stock, ask the merchant if there’s a substitute available and let the customer know about any changes to the order.

If you encounter any issues at the store, try to work things out with the merchant to find a solution. They might be able to remake the order if it’s wrong. You can report a store as closed, but it’s always a good idea to double-check by looking for drive-thrus or pick-up windows, especially when dashing late at night. If you need help with an issue at the store and need to unassign or contact support, provide an accurate reason to help improve the next Dasher’s delivery experience.

Tip #3: Handling delays

When you reach the store and encounter an extended wait time or delay for, inquire with the merchant about the estimated readiness time. Seasoned Dashers recommend contacting the customer via call or text to inform them about any possible delays to help them earn a 5-star Dasher rating.

Tip #4: Dropping off orders

Use the DoorDash Dasher app to easily find your drop-off location and get the necessary details or instructions. Remember, it’s essential to double-check that you’re delivering the correct order to the right customer, especially for batched deliveries. If you ever have questions, feel free to reach out to your customer directly through phone or text options.
