Data details & methodology
This report is based on proprietary DoorDash data from January through December 2024, covering millions of deliveries in the US spanning restaurant, retail, grocery, convenience, flower, and alcohol delivery. The report also leverages external cost-of-living data and gig work expense reports.
For clarity, results are further segmented by region — Northeast, Midwest, South, and West — with local callouts where trends stand out.
And most importantly: all data has been anonymized at the individual and merchant level, in line with industry privacy standards.
Dashing in action
Every day, millions of orders are completed by Dashers nationwide, fueling the flow of food in communities big and small. The lion’s share of demand comes from bustling metros across America. But no matter the city, or where you choose to dash, there's always a variety of opportunities to earn.
Daily Demand
Dashers nationwide complete an average of over 3 million deliveries, per day.
Top Hotspots
Highest volume of orders come from greater Los Angeles, the New York metropolitan area, the San Francisco Bay Area, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, Denver, and Boulder.
Dinner Rush
5pm - 9pm was the busiest time of day for Dashers in 2024, making dinner time a high earnings window.
